Course information:

What are the Luo vessels? Why and when should we select them? How can we apply them? These are some of the questions we will clarify in this course. In the Classics the Luo vessels (collaterals) play a very important role, especially in the treatment of emotional problems, pain syndroms and chronic conditions. The better understanding of the Luo vessels concept helps us to realize the deep relation of the body and the Shen (spirit) and the Luo vessels as abridge between them. Unfortunately nowadays this knowledge is almost forgotten. The course focuses on the view of the Luo vessels in the Classics, such as the Huang Di Nei Jing黃帝內經(Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic), the Nan Jing難經(Classic of Difficulties) and the Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing 鍼灸甲 經 (Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion). They explain how the human spirit is able to reach the different levels of the body and connect the body with the emotions. These connections, under pathological circumstances, create a vast scope of emotional, mental and physical symptoms and signs, such as anxiety, mania, pain syndromes, atrophy, respiratory and urinary problems, skin problems, etc.. During the course we will explore how to diagnose Luo vessels disorders and how to differentiate them from problems in the main channels, including pulse diagnosis and inspection of the channels and, of course, how to treat them. Different classic needling and bleeding methods will be explained and demonstrated.

Content:

  • Explanation of Luo vessels structures from theClassics
  • Classification of Luo vessels and identification in practice
  • Classical diagnosis of Luo and Jing vessel problems
  • Practical applications of treating emotional and physical disorders
  • Classical needling and bleeding methods
