Beschreibung

Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement was written in part as an appeal to yoga teachers to appreciate the depth and breadth of yoga as a science, movement practice and philosophy that essentially advocates wholeness as the foundation of living anatomy and form. Yoga is about recognising who and how we are, and how we as teachers can help our clients (who are all different) move better.

In classical anatomy (in the West), the body is divided into its parts and its functionality is traditionally reduced to these parts, usually described in two-dimensional iconic forms based on lever mechanics. The East has never advocated such reductionism in anatomy. Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement encompasses two great foundations to connect the difference between these two approaches and expand our understanding of yoga to 21st century anatomy.

The first part of this extraordinary work acknowledges that leading fascia science is changing all previous reductionist views (anatomical and biomechanical). The first part of the book carefully explains this and shows how the new science of body architecture can give meaning to the yogic philosophy of unity and wholeness. The second part of the work takes this paradigm shift and applies it in practice to the subtle understanding of fascia architecture and shows how this architecture helps us move better.

Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement seeks to ask questions, find appropriate research and make all this knowledge and understanding practical for teachers and practitioners of a variety of movement and bodywork specialisations, including yoga. It teaches the creation of postural profiles and the creation of class mandalas to support this.

It is an essential resource for the contemporary yoga teacher.
