Is facial rejuvenation very complicated for an acupuncturist or can even beginners integrate this in their daily acupuncture treatment?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is based on principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the addition of new empirical points and specialized needle technique. It is not too difficult or complicated to practice but it does require learning some new points with very specific locations and highly effective needle techniques. Practitioners easily integrate this into to their practice and tend to report large increases in their patient numbers and income when they do. Patients receive treatment for their underlying health conditions and of course the treatment also helps to maintain their health. The combination of local and constitutional points makes the results last longer than the use of merely local or distal points.

Can I support the facial rejuvenation treatment also with other methods rather than only acupuncture, f.e. Qigong, herbs, nutrition?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is an important component of a Facial Rejuvenation program though it is also very helpful to supplement it with herbal medicine used both internally and topically, good nutrition, massage/acupressure, nutritional supplements, facial exercises, and aromatherapy. This is why I also teach these other methods of Facial Rejuvenation in addition to Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture. Many patients are using cosmetic products that are full of chemicals and drying agents such as alcohol which work against your efforts. Using high quality aromatherapeutic products will help augment and maintain the results of your acupuncture. Patients these days prefer a natural approach to health, aging, and beauty. They love applying herbs in this wonderfully fragrant forms found in aromatherapy and see visible results. Patients are more likely to follow a practitioner’s advice on nutrition and healthy lifestyle when they are motivated by their appearance. This is a great opportunity to educate your patients for their health over all as well as provide more personalized advice for their specific signs of aging. Treating internally and topically yields the best results. And to cover all aspects of a person, I recommend Energy Medicine practices such as Qigong for increasing  and maintaining the effects.   I also recommend using essences such as flower remedies or homeopathic treatment to address psycho-spiritual issues that people have around aging and lack of self esteem. For true body-mind-spirit treatment, I recommend using methods and products to help treat the excess vanity and insecurity that some patients have which helps deeper levels of transformation. Teaching your patients facial exercises helps to also prolong the results.

Is it a modern fashion thing or has it been used in the old Chinese medicine as well?

In the early to mid 1990’s, I had many books on this subject translated from Chinese into English. In my research, I found ancient and Chinese medical literature referring to a form of cosmetic acupuncture utilized by the Empress and Emperor’s concubines. At least as early as the Sung Dynasty (960-1279 AD), there are mentions of this and some sources even report earlier references. Acupuncture, massage, qigong, and herbal treatment both internal formulas and external applications like herbal masks have been used. Today, there are Mei Rong ( translated as Chinese Medical Cosmetology) departments and clinics found in most all TCM universities and hospitals in China.

If I buy you DVD, do I still need to attend at your seminar?

Optimally, it is best to both take the workshop and buy the DVD. Attending the workshop provides the opportunity for certification in the technique and the opportunity to ask questions and receive invaluable clinical supervision. The DVD however, provides closeup images of the demonstration that you often cannot see up close in a workshop. I made very user friendly menus for the video so you can find a part of the lecture or demonstration very easily and review it over and over again which is very helpful for learning. The DVD also serves to refresh your memory and reinforce the knowledge and techniques even if you  have already taken the workshop. One student recently reported to me that she went home and looked at the DVD after struggling in the workshop with one of the particular techniques and some of the new point locations.  She emailed me enthusiastically that after viewing the DVD, she was able to see what she was doing wrong and that she was now able to practice the techniques easily and more effectively.
